Table II. Design Production Process

Process Name: Design Production
Description: Group designs production as seen by audience: audio, video, effects, lighting, and so on. Group works with Sponsor initially, but Group at some point can proceed without Sponsor intervention.
Entry Criteria: Develop Content process completed; archive and output documentation available.
Inputs: 1. Final Script from Develop Content.
Activities:

Execute each activity once for every scene in Final Script:

A. Scene Visualization: Visit candidate shooting locations, either indoors or outdoors. Evaluate if modifications will be necessary (rearranging furniture, landscaping, and so on). Preview scenes with 3 x 4 aspect ratio cards. Prototype scenes with 110 format film camera (approximates 3:4 aspect ratio), video camera, or sketches. Document final location choices and modifications.

B. Develop Story Board: Generate drawing (either by hand or computer) showing a typical view. Annotate each drawing with audio and video description or Final Script references.

C. Develop Equipment Position Diagrams: Prototype camera, equipment, lighting, microphone, and talent positions. Diagram decisions.

D. Develop Shot List: Determine camera angles and shooting positions. Include creativity, direction demanded for dramatic effect. Document and diagram decisions.

E. Effects Planning: Plan special effects (if any). Document decisions.
Outputs:

a. Shooting Location Choices and Modifications.

b. Story Board.

c. Equipment Layout Diagrams.

d. Shot Diagrams and Lists.

e. Special Effects Plan.

Exit Criteria: Documentation from Process completed and reviewed.
